Chakan Fashion Show: The Legacy of Traditions Through the Centuries

On April 7, the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan organized a cultural event at the Fairmont Baku hotel titled “Chakan Fashion Show: The Legacy of Traditions Through the Centuries, ” dedicated to the international holiday of Nowruz.

The event was opened with welcoming remarks by the Ambassador of Tajikistan to Azerbaijan, Ilhom Abdurakhmon. In his speech, he noted that Nowruz, as a rich spiritual and cultural heritage, unites the friendly peoples of the region. “Nowruz is one of the most ancient holidays, symbolizing the arrival of spring, the awakening of nature, and the triumph of light, hope, and creation, ” the diplomat emphasized. “Holding today’s event in friendly Azerbaijan carries special symbolic meaning and reflects the shared historical and cultural ties between our peoples.”

The ambassador also noted that for the Tajik people, Nowruz is a time of renewal and harmony, and the tradition of celebrating it in new festive clothing symbolizes the beginning of a bright new chapter in life. It is this tradition that inspired the presentation of the “Chakan” collection.

As part of the Chakan Fashion Show, works by Tajik designers Khurshed Sattorov, Vays Asoev, and Sulkhia Gulomova were presented. The audience was shown the collections “Chakan, ” “Nuri Badakhshon, ” and “Navoi Khuroson, ” demonstrating high craftsmanship and the rich artistic heritage of Tajik culture.
